Blackburn USB/Solar Flea Light Review - Bike Commuters

By Admin on April 5, 2010 6:03 AM | No Comments

Blackburn-Flea-USB-Plus-Solar-Rear.jpg

A review of the Blackburn USB/Solar Flea tail light has been posted over at Bike Commuters. 'As tail blinkies go, the Flea gets serious points for being a single, sealed unit that's small, rechargeable, and rugged. I don't know how many tail lights I've lost because they fell apart after hitting a pot-hole. Functionally, the flea is run-of-the mill, however. It has a steady mode, a flashing mode, and a "chase" mode where it alternates from right to left. It's brighter than most cheapo blinkies -- as well it should be for the price, but it lacks the retina-searing dazzle of some other lights in this price range. The USB/Solar option adds a mere $10 to the MSRP of the tail light. For under $40, though, this diminutive blinky packs big gadget factor. The back of the solar panel is branded.

Princeton Tec Switchback 3 Light System Review - SingleTracks.com

Princeton-Tec-Switchback-3-Light-System.jpg

A review of the Princeton Tec Switchback 3 Light System has been posted over at SingleTracks.com. 'Saying the Switchback 3 comes with everything you need is an understatement: it comes with more accessories than you could possibly use, unless you plan on racing on multiple continents. The small packaging may fool you until you open it up and find levels of components. Not only do you get the light unit with 3 powerful Maxbright LEDs, 2 mounting options (helmet and handlebar), and a large capacity Li-Ion battery, but you also get a car charger adapter and a home charger. The home charger even has its own options with North American and European plugs. To top it off you also get an extension cable for mounting the battery behind your seatpost or in a hydration pack. Like I said, Princeton Tec has thought of everything.'

NiteFlux Photon Enduro 8 Single Review - Bike Rumor

NiteFlux-Photon-Enduro-8-Single.jpg

Bike Rumor has publsihed a review of the NiteFlux Photon Enduro 8 Single LED light. 'The Enduro 8 Single has three settings. High, Low, and Flash (watts, lumens and runtime below). These settings could easily be described as Trail, Commuting, and Flash respectively. The low setting, while fine for commuting and great for power savings, is inadequate for competitive trail riding. There just isn't enough light to allow time for preloading and/or navigating sudden obstacles. The low setting does illuminate the trails enough for leisurely strolls though the woods and will get you home once the CWT, Constant Watt Technology, says it's time to turn back.'

Knog Frog Bike Light Review - Wired.com

Knog-Frog-Bike-Light.jpg

The Gadget Lab have published a review of the Knog Frog Bike Light. 'The Frog is a bright, weather sealed LED lamp in a silicone casing. The built-in strap stretches around bars and frames and hooks back on itself. I found a set at my local bike-shop for €11 ($16) apiece, for once actually less than the €12 list price. At this price, they're a little above the cheapest lamps, but nowhere near the top end. The best feature of the Frog is its size. The tiny lamps are hardly bigger than the button-cell and LED within. The switch is concealed and you turn things on and off by pressing the top of the light. One press for "on", another for "flash" and one more to switch off.
